Batman. Zero-one. The computer announced his arrival as his form materialized in the zeta tube. His face was neutral, giving nothing away as he stepped into the room. He glanced around the room, not seeing any of the Team members present, but knowing that they could be anywhere in the Mountain. He had a feeling it was only a matter of time before someone came to investigate after hearing his name announced. They would probably think that he had a mission for them, which he didn’t.
He swiped his hand across the air, bringing forth a holographic screen. He eyed it for a moment before typing on the- also holographic –keyboard. His fingers moved efficiently and quickly across the keys, the numbers and letters quickly flying by on the screen. A speedster probably would’ve been the only person capable of tracking the movements.
As he typed, he couldn’t help but ponder over how quiet it currently was. He had gotten used to the voices of the Team whenever he came. Lately, he’d only ever been stopping by to deliver missions. He didn’t feel the need to check up on them quite so often anymore. While he had never doubted them, they had certainly proved themselves over the New Years. Not only had they saved the League, but the world as well.

Zatanna had been in her room with the door open. She had been reading some homework before any missions or training ends up coming up. Once she was done with her readings Zatanna walked out of her room. Going to the kitchen she had heard the computer announce Batman. As she walked to see where he was and peeked in. Her head tilted wondering why he was here. Was there a mission she had never been told about. Zatanna was still in her school uniform as she walked in.
“Batman is everything okay?” Zatanna asked wonder why he was here. Looking at the computer she couldn’t read what was going on. Zatanna for some reason was nervous around him. Not sure why she was nervous. “Did we miss a mission or a training day?” Zatanna scratched her head confused.
As she saw that he was still working on the computer she took a deep breath. “Do you need help with anything?” Zatanna asked Walking closer up to him she smiled at him. Not sure what really to say to him. Only thing she really knew about Batman was the fact that her father had helped him out with some things and they were old friends.

He noticed Zatanna before she even walked into the room, having seen the movement of her peeking her head from around the corner. He glanced at her briefly when she walked up to him, before turning his eyes back to the screen. She was still in his peripheral vision, though.
He noticed her body language. He made her nervous, which was the usual reaction of those not accustomed to his intimidating presence. Still, he didn’t want the girl to be afraid of him. He had been old friends with her father, the man having trained him during his world travels. He had also made a promise to Zatara, right before he put on the helmet of fate, Bruce had promised to watch over the girl and make sure she was taken care of. He was doing everything in his power to do so, short of moving her into the mansion with him. While Dick certainly wouldn’t have a problem with that, it would pose too much of a risk to their secret identities.
“I’m updating the computer system” he explained briefly in response to her questions. He glanced at her once more as she stepped closer and asked as to whether or not he needed help. He wasn’t sure what she could do to help with upgrading a computer system, but there was something else he could inquire from her.
“How are you and Robin?” His voice and face betrayed nothing. It still bothered him that Richard had yet to inform him about his current relationship status. He tried to think about anything he had done or said that would require such secrecy from his protégé, but he came up empty. But, Dick was a teenager. He’d heard that they tended to act without proper reasoning.

Zatanna tilted her head. “I thought you upgraded last month.” Zatanna began to think on that. Robin had been doing something to it last month. He was probably just doing some work like he normally did not that he was doing something with the computer. “Do you need any help. I mean I’m not sure what I can do but you never now what I’ll be good at.” Zatanna gave him a smile and just looked at the computer.
When he asked how Robin and her were doing she bit her lower lip. “How did..um..We are doing fine just like the rest of the team. You know good friends and what not. He helps me and I help him when he needs it.” Zatanna didn’t think that Robin would have told Batman about them. So she began to wonder how did Batman know about anything. Her heart began to pound a little nervous that he would be mad and he will say something to him and her about how this could never be blah blah blah stuff. She scratched her head and looked at him.
Looking down she kicked the floor. “So I was thinking about grabbing some things from home. I know I won’t sell the house for I would like to keep it and one day return home. Anyway I was thinking about grabbing some books and some other stuff of mine. If that would be okay and what not.” Zatanna wasn’t sure why she was asking permission from him. She figured if her dad wanted him to watch after her she would behave like she would with her father beside doing the clone thing and sneaking out. Though she couldn’t promise she wouldn’t do that.

He gave a short nod to her statement. He had told Robin to update it last month. “The computer gets a routine update every month.” The computer systems for both the Cave and Watchtower were everything, really. Without them, nothing would function properly. And if they were to be compromised… just the thought gave Bruce a headache.
A simple hm was his only response to the offer of help. He had things under control. This was definitely one of the easier jobs he assigned himself. Computer programming had come rather natural to him. It had definitely been one of the easier subjects of his training.
He simply nodded at her response to his question of her and Robin. “Of course.” His tone didn’t change, betraying nothing. If they wanted to pretend that he didn’t know and that it wasn’t exceedingly obvious, then so be it. They just needed to learn how to avoid security cameras.
He blinked once behind his cowl as she started to speak again, this time discussing her thoughts and plans. He knew they hadn’t retrieved everything from her house yet; the whole thing had been done quickly and he had promised her that they would retrieve the rest later when she felt up to it. His brain quickly processed a few thoughts; he had promised her father that he would take care of her, yet he hardly saw the girl. A slight frown came to his face as he thought of what Zatara would think of that.
“Let me know when and I can take you in the jet. It would be more efficient” he told her, eyes never leaving the computer screen. “Perhaps Robin could come along as well.” While he didn’t necessarily approve of his protégé dating, he had no qualms with him liking Zatanna. She was a smart young girl and Zatara had done an excellent job raising her.

Zatanna nodded. “Aww I guess I just never realized this.” Looking at the computer she began to kick at the floor. Really not sure what to say to him or what to do, there was something she watned to ask but she figured she would ask later. Zatanna wanted to know about Zatara and Batman trained and knew each other. They were old good friends and she wondered how they became friends. When he had said of course Zatanna looked down. If Zatara was still here she would have been dead if he found out she was with Robin and would have been killed brought to life and killed again if he found out that she was hiding it from him. With a sigh she bit her lower lip. “I’m sorry Batman. I should respect you more. I just think its better if he told you. Not you hear it from me. I know Zatara would never allow me to show back up if he found out.” Zatanna looked up at him That was all she could say. From saying what she said Zatanna knew Batman would understand what she told him.
Seeing the frown Zatanna took a step back..”Sorry I didn’t mean..I’ll just go back to my room. Another…” As he spoke Zatanna was confused on what just happened. “Are you sure the jet will be more efficient? I mean I can just get us there, then get my stuff to my room, and there is…then I can get us back here.” Zatanna wanted to go to a small coffee shop Zatara and her went to almost everyday, but Zatanna forgot about how Batman don’t let anyone know who they were no matter what.
“I’m ready whenever you have the time Batman.” With a smile she nodded. “it will be nice to have your help and Robin’s as well. To show you my home as well.” Zatanna said excited now.
