PERSONALITY:Static has the personality of what could be described as an average teenager. He is at times quite unpredictable but always has a reason for everything he does. He loves being a super hero as he believes it's what he was ment to do. As told by Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, and even Batman he has the makings to be one of the greatest heroes this world has ever seen. At times he can be very hyper or 'spazzy' when meeting an idol or hero, and believes deeply in right from wrong. Static is not one to just give up, he always wants to do the best he can.
POWERS:Static was a metahuman due to the mutagenic chemical "Quantum Vapor". He acquired the a
bility to manipulate and control Electromagnitism.
Super-Conductive Electromagnetism: Static's body can generate Raw Electromagnetic Energy, which he has learned to manipulate, control, to sense sources of electromagnetic energy, electricity and magnetism and administer as a range of attacks with a range of uses; he can charge devices (such as the Justice League's Watchtower) with electricity, and alternatively drain the energy from them into himself, magnetize and demagnetize metals. Static can hear Radiowaves meaning he can listen in on the police broadband and music stations, as well as tapping into the phone lines so he can make calls. Virgil/Static can choose to keep the electromagnetic energy that he currently holds in his body by controlling the Current and Voltage for whenever he wants to use it. Electromagnetic Force Bolts: Static can fire Bursts of electromagnetic energy from his hands for uses like electrifying objects, administering large scale Static-Clings, generating shields and barriers and with a piece of wire he can generate a Nova-Burst. Electromagnetic Fields: Static generates an Electromagnetic field just like the earth and the sun generate their own Electromagnetic fields. Electromagnetic Levitation: Static can cause objects to fly (metal is the easiest material to manipulate and wood is the most difficult.) Static Cling: Static can adhere most objects/people/Bang-Babies to surfaces and other objects, plus Static can magnetize surfaces. Taser Punch: an electrified punch administered during combat to send opponents flying, similar effects to a Taser Gun. Electromagnetic Displays: Electromagnetic Light Displays that Static can shoot into the sky in the forms of pictures and words. With more power behind it, Static can make these into Electromagnetic Nets and/or Cage. Electromagnetic Shields and Barriers: shields and barriers that Static can generate with Electromagnetism to block, repel, hold back attacks and defend himself in battle. Ball Lightning: named after Ball Lightning, the weather phenomenon. Electromagnetic Energy compressed into a large ball and thrown at targets; an offensive maneuver in a combat situation. Nova Burst: so far seen only in Bad Stretch, an attack of light and electromagnetic force run through some normal wire, to blind them for a short while. Electromagnetic Pulse: knocking out all local electrical devices. Resistance to Mind Rleated Powers, specifically Mind Control though illusions and persuasion has been shown not to work either, do to the constant flow of electricity quickly cording through his brain at an accelerated rate.
Weaknesses:
Due to the wide ranges that Static has, Static's electromagnetic powers behave with a range of frequencies, abilities, and power levels. For example: Static's main weakness in confrontations with other Meta-Humans and Bang-Babies, is water, to be exact, if Static is hit by a large body of water, his powers can short out, especially if he's charged up; but he can fly in the rain. Static can replenish energy that he has lost in fights from sources of electricity. Sometimes Static can use his powers on non-metal objects, and sometimes he can't. And there are times where he's not been ready to absorb electrical power.
HISTORY:Fifteen-year old school kid Virgil Hawkins was bullied, like most kids are. But after taking one beating too many he was given a gun by some gangbanger friends, who told him that if he was tired of being pushed around, then he should link up with them at the Big Bang. Virgil showed up, and hid behind some crates and old oil drums, but while he was waiting he decided this wasn't for him. Throwing the gun into the water, he wandered off, deep in thought and heedless to where he was walking. Thus it was that Virgil, although not a gang member, ended up present at Paris Island on the night of the Big Bang. Exposed to the gas he gained a variety of electromagnetic powers, and, inspired by the superhero comics he read, decided to become a superhero, Static.
While Static set off to protect Dakota, the same couldn't be said for the other teens affected by the gas. Virgil's old nemesis F-Stop was present at the Big Bang as well, and developed pyrokinesis (the ability to generate and manipulate fire). Donning the name "Hotstreak", he began to terrorize Dakota—until Static put a stop to his efforts.
Hotstreak was the first in a long list of enemies Static would acquire. While several were teenagers present at the Big Bang, few posed true threats. Things changed, however, when Ebon, a former gang leader and now a living shadow, decided to make a "Bang Baby" exclusive gang. His first members were bird girl Talon and Shiv, a youngster who could generate light weapons from his hands, but he quickly set out to recruit more. Though Static was on that list, the hero opted out, and instead fought to stop the Meta-Breed's activities. Other rogues included Ferret, Slipstream, Replay, Puff, Onyx, Kangor, and hydrokinetic Aquamaria.
Static idolizes many black superheroes in his world, such as Soul Power, Anansi, and particularly the Green Lantern, John Stewart.
Static has traveled through time twice. In both incidents, he's crossed paths in events of his own life.
The first time was thanks to the powers of Timezone, he and Gear traveled back in time, 5 years previously, to the night of the Dakota riots, the night his mother was killed; in an attempt to prevent her death, he told her about what would happen, as well as his life as Static. Jean convinced him that she had to do her duty to save as many people as she could, and said goodbye to him, her final words to him were that she was proud of the way he's grown up. When he returns to the present, his father tells him that his mother had told everyone the night she died about how her little Virgil was a hero.
The second time came while assisting Batman and Robin in Gotham City. While examining a machine stolen by a villain, called Timecode; it activated and Static was sent forty years in the future, where he met this era's Batman, Terry McGinnis, and had to help him save his future-self from Kobra.
ROLE-PLAYING SAMPLE:
Static had been utterly surprised, yet again, when the JL popped up at his and Gear’s ‘hideout’ or rather old abandoned gas station once more. It seemed the team just couldn’t get enough of him, or that’s what he liked to tell himself at least. This time though they weren’t here to have him supercharge the watchtower, defeat Brainiac, or travel through time. This time they were there to tell him about a team, a team of other young super heroes that he and Gear were to join. Gear of course wasn’t there as his dad had taken him on vacation, but it was still really cool news. Sure it sucked that they hadn’t invited him to be a part of the actual league yet but he was getting there. Maybe a team with all the ‘sidekicks’ was what he needed. A team where his experience would definitely be needed.
The best part was they installed the teleporter thing right there in the gas station in Dakota. This way he could get to Mount Justice, the Young Justice’ base, whenever he wanted. It was so cool, or shway as future Batman Terry had said. GL stuck around to show him how it worked, and explain all the finer details to him but after that he too was called off to do some Justice League work. Man he couldn’t wait the three years or so when he’d actually be able to fight a long side those guys as part of the JL again. Again because to him, he had already been a part of the Justice League twice and knew from his time traveling experience he was definitely going to be on the team and one of the greatest heroes in the world some day.
“Here we go, dang this is gona be so cool.” Static said with a grin as he cracked his fingers and stood in front of the retina scanner. It flashed over his eyes and spoke out loud, ‘Recognized Static.’ Whistling he stepped forward into the Zeta tube like portal and came out the other side in Mount Justice. Once again his name was announced by the weird voice thing and he blinked looking around. “Shwaay…” He said with a chuckle still using Terry’s word at times, because he figured; hey why not get it started now? That of course was when he noticed the other people in the room. Three of them he recognized, Red Tornado the only league member he hadn’t ever talked too, Hawkwoman and her deadly looking mace by her side, and finally Zatanna. The other two though didn’t ring a bell in his mind at all, and he was obsessed with super heroes as Richie sometimes put it.
“Hey Hawkwoman, no hard feelings, right?” He asked jokingly with a smile as he backed up a bit from the winged woman with the mace. He knew she didn’t have any bad feelings towards him from the last time they met. He had only shocked her and the other members so that Brainiac’s mind control chips would fizzle out. It wasn’t like he had shocked her more than just that time, right? When he waited for an answer he looked around trying to figure out just where everyone else was. He knew Flash, Batman, and GL were off on some mission when they left him to figure out the Zeta Tube thing by himself but he expected more League Members or at least there sidekicks.
