Son of manLook to the sky
WITH HIS MASK ON Richard Grayson had officially made the transformation into Robin, the Boy Wonder. And he was in charge of this little patrol. Normally, he wouldn't have ever thought of taking a member or two of the Team on patrol with him in Gotham, but there were a couple new members that he wanted to get to know. He wanted to know their limitations, strengths, weaknesses. He wanted to know how they faught, and if need be, he wanted to know he to take them down. He wasn't as paranoid as Batman, which was why he had chosen not to read the man's scarily detailed files on the newbies, but he was still a bit paranoid. Roy, Barbara, and Wally knew his secret ID without having to use x-ray vision, so that right there should have shown he was more trusting than his mentor.
He was standing near the edge of the roof of Wayne Tech in Gotham City. Batman had made an exception to their usual patrol and allowed him to take some of his teammates out with him. He hoped it would be obvious to who he had chosen to go along with him that he was the one in charge. This was his city and he had invited them. Not to mention he was practically second-in-command of the Team, since whenever Kaldur was unable to go on a mission, some how he found himself as the leader. He didn't like being the leader, though, not after that training excersice. Had he told Zatanna about that during one of their talks together? He wasn't sure. She helped him emotionally, since they could relate with one another about losing parents. But had he talked to her about the training session gone horribly wrong? Then again, it didn't seem to be a topic the original six members of the Team liked to talk about. He didn't blame M'gann for what had happened, in fact how it had happened still baffled him. How could J'onn let M'gann loose control like that? He chose not to voice he questions, however.
Turning to face those he had chosen-- Zatanna, Batgirl, Beast Boy, Cyclone, and Hack --he immediately took up the stance a leader would. Just because he wasn't fond of being team leader didn't mean he wouldn't when needed. Sure, it was Batgirl's city to, but if she said so, he would smugly, but kindly point out that he had been doing this longer than her. He would of course be kind about it, after all she was one of his best friends, but it didn't hurt to tease the living Hell out of her. "Alright, we're just gonna do a simple patrol around the city. We will stick together the entire time and if any of you notice anything, talk to me before jumping in. We'll need a plan most likely and trust me, you will instantly regret suddenly attacking a bad-guy if he turns out to be someone like the Joker." He made sure he didn't sound like he was barking out orders to them, but this was important. Gotham was a dangerous city. Its supervillains didn't need powers in order to be mass-murderers.
Robin silently thanked himself for bringing Zatanna and Batgirl along. Had he gone in with just Hack and Cyclone, he knew he would be at a loss. He realized he didn't know anything about those two, so how could he expect himself to work well with them? At least if they did encounter someone like the Joker, he would have Batgirl and Zatanna to help him out. He wouldn't want to be mean, but he would without a doubt have Hack and Cyclone stand back if they faced a big-time villain. After all, he didn't want them dying or getting seriously injured under his watch. "Hack, Cyclone, who are your mentors?" He asked, knowing that at least that information would help him figure out something about their powers, or lack of if they were like him. He made a mental note to give into Batman later on and read his stupid profiles.

Maxine was really excited and nervous about this. It was her first mission, not only with the Team, but as a superhero. A patrol in Gotham City. She was really nervous as she heard that Gotham was one of the cities with the most dangerous villains, like the Joker, Poison Ivy or Killer Croc. Maxine has learned how to use her powers by herself, but she barely have experience in combat. The good thing is that she wasn't alone and she would get all the support of more experienced heroes. She was instructed to meet the rest of the patrol team in the roof of Wayne Tech in Gotham City. With the help of one of the many Zeta tubes, she was able to arrive quickly to the meeting point. Other members of the team were Zatanna, the other new member Hack, and Robin and Batgirl. She got a little more nervous to meet both vigilantes of Gotham, she has heard so cool things about them. She resisted the temptation to ask for their autographs.
She adjusted her witch hat as she listened to Robin's instructions. "Okay, I'll do my best!" answered Cyclone. Despite Robin was the younger of the team, she was sure he was 13 years old, he was the voice of experience in Gotham and she was going to follow all his orders. A part of her hoped they only find normal criminals, she didn't feel that ready to battle powered up criminals. He then asked her and Hack who were their mentors. She blinked surprised, so then Red Tornado didn't have time to tell the rest of the team about them? She felt a little disappointed but it was a good chance as other to introduce herself. "Well, Red Tornado is my mentor, so that means that I have the same powers that him"answered Maxine, controlling her motor-mouth.

Zatanna wasn’t the first or the last to show up. Why had Robin wanted to do this she wasn’t sure. Though she did show up in her uniform her mission uniform. She stood down at the edge and looked down. From there she looked up into the city. Zatanna wasn’t sure if she liked Gotham that much. Her eyes had moved to Robin from time to time. The only thing she could think about liking Gotham was that Robin was here and hopefully a new friend Batgirl was here. Also the other two teens she meet Barbara and Dick. With a smile she kept looking out into the city. Zatanna looked at the other two new members and smiled hoping they were up for anything. As her eyes kept going back to Robin she remembered the talk they had which began to make her think. Was he really up for being a leader? Every one had a leader in them it was just if they liked it or when they used it. Her attention came back when he began to talk them.
A simple patrol she began to think when did anything came simple for them. With a smile she nodded. Zatanna knew the dangers that Gotham had. It seemed like a lot of bad guys came through here or belonged here. It was something her father wanted her to stay away from was Gotham. Even when they had shows he would normally keep her home or took her but made sure she stayed near him at all cost. Never had she got to see Gotham like this and Zatanna wasn’t sure if she liked it or not.
Zatanna looked over at Maxine and could feel her excitement. With a smile she wondered how Hack was holding out. Zatanna tried hard not to be pissed about the answer that Robin asked. Seeing that Maxine had not problem with it she stayed her cool. Zatanna was still pissed that not many people of the team knew about them. Her eyes kept away from the others still trying to see if she could hear or see anything at all. At this point Zatanna didn’t use her powers to fly up to see if she could see anything or try to use something to look around.

Barbara was next to Dick waiting on the others to show up. Looking at him she didn’t speak a word on how stupid this was. To bring two new people to Gotham. This was going to be bad, if someone strong and bad enough was around. She stood on the edge and tried to keep a look out. As the others started to show up she looked at Dick, wondering what he was going to have them do.
When Zatanna showed up Barbara made sure she didn’t look into her eyes. Since her eyes were not covered like Dick’s mask, it would be easy to say she was Barbara. Since they did hang out when she was at the Academy. If Zatanna figured out who she was it would be easy to figure out who Robin was. Which soon she began to wonder who all knows Robin is Dick?
Once they all got there she turned to listen to Dick. “Robin wouldn’t be better if we split up into two?” It would be faster to actually split into two. “Plus you will take group one and I’ll take group two. So if we do run into Joker everything will be fine.” Looking over at the new two people she was confused. How did Robin not know who their mentors were. When Cyclone started to talk Barbara smiled. It was actually interesting that Cyclone’s mentor was Red Tornado.

Hack had been one of the last to arrive. He wasn’t really worried or excited; seeing as he had gone on patrol before with Hawkwoman a few times before. But he’d be lying if said he wasn’t a little nervous about working in a group. And he knew very little about Gotham except that it housed criminals like the Joker, Poison Ivy, Killer Croc and many others. He listened to what Robin said and shrugged his shoulders when Robin told them what they would do. It was obvious that Robin would be leading this patrol, that was fine with him because Gotham was Robin’s city so it was only natural that Robin lead the patrol. ”Whatever you say, this is your city after all.” He said simply. He wouldn’t mind following Robin’s lead, the boy was Batman’s protégée after all.
He raised an eyebrow behind his mask when Robin asked him and Cyclone who their mentors were. He was taken aback by the fact that the other didn’t know. He thought that Zatanna would have told the Bird who their mentors were, or at least the other would have known seeing as Batman was the boy’s mentor. Hack shook his head to clear it before he answered Robin’s question. ”Hawkwoman is my mentor.” He answered Robin’s question. He decided to tell the other his powers, seeing as Cyclone had done that before him. “I don’t have her powers. My powers are super intelligence, technopathy, limited telekinesis and limited telepathy, I can only send thoughts to someone or more people but I can read the thoughts that someone is trying to send me or the thoughts someone wants me to read. My armor has armor changes, similar to a mode change, I guess.” He explained not really use to explaining his powers; he was better at demonstrating and showing rather than telling.
Hack looked at Batgirl when she suggested what she had. He could automatically see how that idea would be a disaster. No matter how that would go, either him, Beast Boy or Cyclone would be going with one of the two protégée’s of the Dark Knight and they’d be useless against a bad guy like the Joker or Poison Ivy or any of the other big villains that Batman took out with the help of Robin, that would mean that only Batgirl or Robin and Zatanna depending on which team she was on would be taking on the bad guy while he, Cyclone and Beast Boy hung back and watched like… like civilians. A startled look crossed his face, hidden behind his mask, his mouth dropped open in bewilderment. His eyes locked onto Robin’s, or at least the whites in the domino mask he wore. ”Please tell me you’re not going to follow her suggestion?! Surely you know that doing would be stupid and dangerous? One of you would be left with two rookies who know nothing of fighting the villains you two and Batman fight daily.” he thought accidently sending his thoughts to the Boy Wonder in his shock at Batgirl’s suggestion, his mind voice quiet and clear, if not slightly panicked. Hack sighed silently in annoyance, but he was slightly pleased with himself that his thoughts were only sent to Robin and only Robin. Surely the Boy Wonder would see sense and not do Batgirl’s suggestion and hopefully the Bird would not be too angry with him, at how he had sent the other his thoughts. Okay so he didn’t have much control over his telepathy as he thought, but surely Robin wouldn’t hold that against him? Hopefully he wouldn’t, at least Hack really hoped he wouldn’t.

Son of manLook to the sky
ROBIN GAVE CYCLONE A smile as she answered his question, giving her a nod as a thank you. He had also been busy, which had contributed to why he hadn't read up on Cyclone and Hack. Rha's al Ghul had been causing him and Batman a lot of irritation, or at least him. Of course Batman didn't allow anything but anger to show while in costume. He looked toward Hack as he recieved an answer to him, making a mental note to look up how the boy had gotten with Hawkwoman as a mentor in the first place. It would most likely be an interesting story, so it already had his curiousity. "Thanks you two. A guy's been giving Bats and I a run for our money. Ever heard of the League of Assassins? They keep popping up and disappearing. Batman has had me on trying to figure out where they'll strike next, so sorry about being behind on my info." He said honestly with a shrug.
The boy wonder gave both Zatanna and Batgirl smiles, though his eyes lingered on Zatanna for a couple more seconds before moving as Batgirl spoke. Of course his mask would hide what some might consider staring, even for a Bat. He couldn't help it. He loved the color of Zatanna's eyes and he had a right to look into them, even if she couldn't tell that he was looking at specifically her. He opened his mouth to reply to Batgirl when he visibly winced ever-so-slightly. He hadn't expected to suddenly find someone besides M'gann in his head. He looked toward Hack, recognizing his voice and cocked a barely visible eyebrow at him. Hawkwoman's taught you well, he thought, though he wasn't sure if the new recruit was still in his head or not. With that in mind, he turned to Batgirl.
"Actually, if we run into any of the big-time baddies, we call in Batman," the dark-haired vigilante explained, walking over to Batgirl and whispering in her ear. "You know how paranoid he is. I'm lucky he's not stalking us tonight to make sure we don't get hurt." He pulled away from the side of her face, grinning at her. "Our numbers are also uneven. If we split up, one of our groups would be down a number and thus, if spotted, could become a likely target." He didn't want to seem like he had a stick up his ass, but this was life. In Gotham, people died, and they didn't die peacefully. Course everyone died eventually, but he would be damned if he even let someone get hurton this patrol, and he certainly didn't want anyone dying.
Looking around, he realized he probably should lighten up the mood a little. He glanced at Zatanna and Batgirl, getting the slight feeling that they were somewhat upset with him in the back of his mind. But they showed no sign of being pissed at him, so he wouldn't ask them. Even if they did, it wasn't something he could ask them around the new recruits. He trusted the new recruits, but there was a chance it could be something personal. Placing his hands on his hips, he gave a small smile. "I guess this can be considered like a feild trip. And I apologize ahead of time if I start acting like a teacher." He shrugged his shoulders again and gave the small group an apologetic smile. "With Batman, it's almost always a learning experience. If I start talking like I'm going to give you a pop quiz, let me know. Since you're patroling with me and not the Batman, I intend to make this as fun as possible." Because, of course, even teen heroes needed fun in their lives.
"Any, um questions?" Robin asked, his eyebrows arching up slightly as he looked at his small group. A face was missing. Where's Beast Boy? he asked himself, still unsure if Hack was still accidentally reading his thoughts or not. He wasn't sure if anyone was secretly a huge Gotham- or Bat-fan. He looked toward Batgirl, silently letting the rest know that if they did have any questions about the city, its villains, its heroes, etc. that both he and the redhead could answer. If it was about the patrol, obviously he would be the one to answer. If there were questions, he hoped it wouldn't be too many. His mind wandered off to Gar. M'gann would probably kill him if anything happened to her 'little brother'. So, where was he? Had he declined the invitation? "Say, anyone know where Beast Boy is?"

Maxine smiled relieved when she saw Zatanna. She nodded at her. It was good meeting familiar faces. For first time she was meeting Robin and Batgirl, other members of the team. Robin seemed really nice despite his age, and he looked so confident, she was sure this patrol will end well. Batgirl looks nice too, although she couldn't understand why she was avoiding looking to Zatanna, was there a problem between the two of them? Maybe she should ask Zatanna.
She opened her eyes wide when Batgirl said about splitting. "Ummm...I don't think that splitting would be a cool idea, as some of us haven't been in Gotham for a long time as the rest of the team"said quickly Cyclone. She was nervous already in Gotham doing that would put her the twice of nervous. She would end being a charge for the rest fo the team, she was sure of that. She watched how Hack looked at Robin, and he looked like he dissaproved the idea too. She felt a little relieved when the Boy Wonder said that it was better if they stick together. She giggled by the idea of Batman acting like a mother hen or a babysitter. But it was normal, this was his city after all, and Robin and Batgirl were his protegess, he really cares for them.
"It's okay Robin, I'm a quick learner so I'll do my best. And for the questions, I think I can ask them during the patrol if you don't mind."said with decission in her voice. She blinked a few times when Robin asked them if they saw Beast Boy. She started to look around without any luck. "Ummm...No I havent' see him"she didn't know that he would be joinign the patrol too.

Zatanna wasn’t sure why Batgirl didn’t look over near her. She looked down but smiled. “Well why don’t me and Batgirl take the air. You know how Zatara had something to stand on when he flied. Well I have been working on that and Batgirl and myself could fly up. Giving you guys warning if there is anything from our views.” Zatanna spoke up looking at them all even looked at Cyclone she knew she could fly but figured it would get everyone happy. She will do her best though to see why Batgirl wasn’t looking at her at all. Did she do something wrong? That was the only question that ran through her mind.
Hearing him ask about Beast Boy she shook her head. “You might want to try to contact Miss Martian on that one.” Zatanna looked at Robin with a smile. Looking at the other two she took a deep breath. “So then are we just going to wait or are we going?” Zatanna asked looking over at the leader of this patrol. “Don’t worry so much about Batman if he didn’t trust you two he would be here keeping an eye on us. We had to fight them before Robin I think we can handle anything.” Zatanna said with a smile.

Hearing what Robin said she nodded. “Alright then I figured it might have been a good idea.” When Zatanna gave the idea she turned to her and nodded. Looking at Robin she looked at him. “Well what do you think Robin?” Batgirl asked about the idea named Zatanna. Flying up with her would be a good way for the both of them to keep looking out. Batgirl wasn’t mad she just thought it would be a good idea but it was his team for tonight so she would listen.
Hearing the face about Batman made her laugh. “Batman does need to learn he can trust us Robin. We won’t screw any missions up. We work good together and we took down a good amount of bad guys without him. I just hope we don’t run into any of them. A band of stupid bad guys hoping to take us down. That will never happen.” Batgirl said looking out trying to make sure nothing was going to happen. “Which way are we going anyway?” Batgirl had been avoiding her father just incase he could see her in this costume.
